Northside On The Move: Capital Projects Development Strategy

Northside On The Move is a partnership project between the Greater Northside Management District and Harris County Precinct 2 with the goal of developing a forward-looking strategy for future infrastructure improvements in Greater Northside.

Northside On The Move is a partnership project between the Greater Northside Management District and Harris County Precinct 2 with the goal of developing a forward-looking strategy for future infrastructure improvements in Greater Northside.

After the completion of the technical analysis, field observations, consultation with District staff and Board of Directors, Harris County Engineering Department, Harris County Precinct 2, and input from the community, four projects were recommended for detailed project development:

Airline Drive from Parker Road to North Main Street

Northside on the Move – Airline Drive Final Report

Berry Road from Airline Drive to Jensen Drive

Northside on the Move – Berry Final Report

Tidwell Road from I-45 to Irvington Boulevard

Northside on the Move – Tidwell Final Report

Jensen Drive from Parker Road to Kelley Street

Commissioner Garcia Revive 2 Thrive Corridor Studies in Partnership with Greater Northside Management District (Jensen Drive) 

8/27/24: Agreement reached between Ardura Group, Inc. for Professional Engineering Services in connection with Corridor Study – Jensen Drive – 2023, UPIN 24102MF34J01, Precinct 2.

Community Meeting

The process to prioritize transportation and mobility improvement projects included a variety of public outreach, field observations and site visits, and technical analyses. Input from the community was vital to developing this strategy and in prioritizing infrastructure projects.

• 91 individuals responded to a survey, expressing the need for pedestrian, bicycle, and roadway improvements across the District.

• 250 comments were provided on the online map illustrating where these improvements are needed.

• 36 individuals participated in walk audits along three corridors to identify issues from the perspective of those walking or rolling on the corridor.

• 68 individuals attended a community meeting to discuss infrastructure and mobility needs in the community and to provide feedback on the selected projects.

Northside on the Move was approved at Harris County Commissioner’s Court in August 2023. Several of the projects identified have already been awarded funding for implementation:

• $1M Harris County Precinct 2 Partnership project to develop a design concept for Jensen Drive

• $1.1M TxDOT Highway Safety Improvement Program for intersection improvements on Airline Drive

• $12.5M USDOT Safe Streets and Roads For All for improvements to Airline Drive, Jensen Drive, Tidwell Road, and Bissonnet Street (in the International District)

 

Northside Adelante: Estrategia de Desarrollo de Proyectos del Capital
